Question for Sensei Mark Anthony:
I have worked hard on my game this year and I\'ve seen some good
progress. I have gradually corrected most of my swing faults through
video work. The one problem I can\'t seem to correct is my left
wrist breaking down (cupping) at impact, causing different bad ball
flights depending on my swing path. I have noticed on my video
playback that my hips are square to the ball at impact and have not
opened up toward the target at all. Could this be causing my left
wrist breakdown?
Answer:
You\'re having trouble \"flopping your wrist\" that\'s what I call
it.
Try this. First use a 3/4 swing. Swing to \"thumbs up.\" If you do
this, you\'ll have much more control. Believe me, there won\'t be
any perceivable loss of yardage.
You can also try this.
Get a ruler and stick it in your glove to keep your hand straight.
This may be uncomfortable at first but it\'ll work.
You are just going to have to control yourself on your backswing. by
stopping at 3/4, you\'ll learn to control your backswing. You can\'t
just whip your backswing back without control and expect to have a
controlled shot.
Floppy is sloppy!!!! Relax and don\'t try to kill the ball. Swing,
don\'t hit.
You can also do the \"Tai-Chi swings\" with concentration on the
left wrist being straight.
I would also recommend you watch my Tao Of Golf video. I think it
will help you.
Thanks for your question.
Sensei Mark.
